Hysterectomy is the surgery to remove woman’s uterus. It may also involve removal of the cervix, ovaries, fallopian tubes and other surrounding structures. During this surgery the uterus is removed completely. Fallopian tubes and ovaries also will be removed sometimes. After a hysterectomy menstrual periods will be stopped.

This surgery is done using a laparoscope, which is a tube with a lighted camera, and surgical tools inserted through several small cuts made in the belly or, in the case of a single site laparoscopic procedure, one small cut made in the belly button.

This surgery can be done in several different ways. In Abdominal Surgery, lower abdomen is cut open. Vaginal surgery is done through a small cut in the vagina. In Laparoscopic surgery the uterus is removed using laparoscope with small cuts made in abdomen or vagina.
